TGIF

I chained myself to the desk yesterday and called sources all day as I have three reports in the field. Then found out I have to be in Chicago in a week (thank goodness not this week). Not once did I venture to the LaLa except for the Bean and my walk in the morning.

Later in the afternoon I went to Sip on Magazine, to meet M, the photographer who is going to work on one of my book ideas with me. It was perfect, a gorgeous day, a Friday, and we sat outside and shared a bottle of Zinfandel and went over each of our concepts for this book – everything M said was exactly what I was thinking so it seems to me this will be a lovely organic process with a splendid book at the other end. And we share a love for Ed Veesters in common – how cool is that?

Later, his friend, MM, joined us for another bottle of Zin. They were on their way to a prohibition party later in the evening and I was just enjoying the remains of the day, but the gloaming set in and the air grew chilly, so I came home and took care of the Bean and had all good intentions of about tucking in for the night.

Instead, I found myself over at D&A’s for cocktails and poker. Was it D or A who said, “I can’t believe you got to your age and don’t know how to play poker.” So they taught me and I kept playing poker like it was Rummy and I kept losing. Duh. But we had fun nonetheless. And somewhere in the “madrugada,” I made my way home to curl up with Arlene and fall asleep with the windows open to the lovely, crisp, December air.
