Lilette in New Orleans
I was trying to take Tatjana out for our anniversary to get oysters so that ruled out Meaux Bar, our favorite haunt. But the three names in oysters are Casimento, Pascal Manales and Cooter Browns. And now Luke’s. But I didn’t like the ambience at Luke’s – even though I worship at the altar of John Besh.
I called Manales but they closed at 9, so I opted for Luke’s. I also called Lilette and they also closed at 9:30 but they said we could come in anytime.
We started the evening with Vodka Tonics and then went to Liuzza’s by the Track to hear Gal Holiday and the Honky Tonk Revue. Then we were headed to Luke’s and since we were early, I shifted gears to Pascal Manales. But it was packed and we were starved, so we got in the truck and went to Lilette’s.
We sat down and who do we see across from us but the same guy we always see at Meaux Bar! Anyway, we had delicious Alaskan oysters and then had a yummy tuna carpaccio, gnocchi and beet salad. All so delicious, I wish I had it right now to eat again.
Highly recommend!
