I don’t want to grow up
I remember when one of my nieces was very young, she was playing in the front yard and as it started to get dark she called to her mom to turn on the lights outside. As if the sun had a switch. Well today, was just like that, as much as I wanted to stay in, I kept finding myself going out. The weather is so beautiful and it is supposed to get cold tomorrow and there was this feeling like it was the last day of summer despite it being January.
Then tomorrow is a full moon so tonight the moon is waxing and big and full and just gorgeous lighting up the bayou and again, I found myself pulled to be outside. We took Loca for an evening walk and went over to Leda Street where a friend has bought a house and I wanted to show T this big building that is back there that I never noticed before. On the way over, we ran into a neighbor and I asked her about the building and she said it was built to house the jockeys at the Fairgrounds and then it was bought by one guy who turned it into apartments and now she wasn’t sure what was going on with it. It’s an incredible building, a block off Esplanade on Leda.
We came home and sat outside on the front porch for a moment because I still felt like I just couldn’t go back inside. I felt like a kid – and coming inside was torture.
My daily affirmation said this later when I finally came inside and got on the computer:
Daily Affirmation
January 10, 2009
Today, I consciously choose to slow down. I make time for myself. I relax into the peace of the present moment and allow spirit to fill my life.
