Baby Mama Monday

This Monday started with no less of the stress, no less of the too many to do’s, no less of some things not going according to the plan, but what was different about this Monday, was that it started with us looking into a digital ultrasound machine and see an image of our baby girl – first her butt, then her legs, then her arms, then her big head and her long amphibian looking spinal chord. She looked like Esther Williams moving to underwater music we weren’t hearing. There was so much silence, the birthmother asked the doctor to turn up the volume so we could hear the heartbeat.

Wild. Stuff you don’t imagine you might be thinking right at that moment. But the only thing coming out of your mouth is wow.

Here’s to a Monday, unlike other Mondays, and to meeting you, Ele (pronounced Ellie), for the first time, and oh what a difference to me.

Go, Ele, in 2009!!! I was just wondering last night if you and T will raise a boy or a girl baby and now I know.

Thanks! We’re psyched – we worried about gender insomuch as there is a lot of female vibes already in this household and for a boy we felt the lack of a male role model for daily learning (how to pee, puberty) but for a girl we also need positive male role models for life learning. Either way – we’re happy – and love that its a girl.
