Mother’s Day
It was a typical Sunday around here – a 25-mile bike ride to the lakefront. Lunch at Parkway – fried catfish on a bun and oyster poboy with Zapp’s – Brocato’s to pick up dessert for our Mother’s Day brunch – rum babas, coconut horseshoes with chocolate dipped tips, and mini cannolis. We all pitched in and made a delicious lunch of Chinese noodles and chicken, Russian egg salad with dill, and Shrimp with leftover gravy from the grillades.
More significantly it was a day about love – mother love and other love – mom had her typical big event cancellation and played that card but I didn’t take it and told her I would pick her up and bring her. There was the match making because we love you effort. The support for the nascent love effort. There was the sitting around the table with people you love enjoyment.
At the end of the day – there was lots of love, lots of food, and smiles on every one’s faces. A successful day that was less than perfect.
