“O.K., I’ll be part of this world.”
Last night, went to see No Country for Old Men – Javier Bardem’s eerie smile and red rimmed eyes are still burned in my mind. But the ending is what haunts me – the larger than life angst of one man trying to survive in desperate times that aren’t so different than other times – when Tommy Lee Jones’ character says at the end “and then I woke up” it’s the nightmare that he can’t shake, the evil incarnate in Bardem’s character that outmatches him and becomes his burden, the dream he cannot slake (he was going to give me money, but I lost it).
