You’re kidding me right?
The gals renting the place are all nurses in some capacity and just informed me that hypothyroidism makes you gain weight, but taking thyroid replacement pills don’t make you lose weight – the ignominy of this disease!

Maybe it depends on one’s metabolism, but I’ve been taking Synthroïd for hypothyroidism since 1992 — when I turned 42 — and I don’t have a weight problem. I’ll be 62 in August, I’m 5 ‘2″, and weigh 115 pounds.
In 1994, my younger brother died and I sort of crashed — went deep into depression and stopped taking my medication because hey, what the heck, I didn’t care anymore. Well, I became very bloated, soon my neck was swollen, my eyes looked as if they were going to pop out of my head, my voice got all raspy and, of course, my energy was waaaaay down.
So naturally, I started taking my medication again, and soon my body was back to its regular lean self.
Could the gals be wrong… ?
