The Price We Pay

A friend of mine owns a beach house that has lost two thirds of its value, a double she rents out and wants to get rid of because it’s always something and has a pool that was just installed at her house that is causing her nothing but anguish because it was installed improperly. I said, well I don’t want to be comforted by your misery, but somehow I am.

As I went in and out of my office yesterday, I had to pass the scaffolding that is up for them to tear out the dry rotted and termite eaten wood on the addition in the back of the house. They are replacing the low grade cypress with Hardie board and using the appropriate nails. Oh and they’re back priming the boards and then going to seal them when they’re up. The guy doing the work shakes his head and says, “This is carpentry 101.” And I shake my head too and say “We only had remedial carpenters here after Katrina. Whatyagonnado?”
