It’s going down
Fat Tuesday tomorrow and we are all geared up here with costumes and provisions and a plan – we’d like to hit the Backstreet Cultural Museum early and depending on how early we get down to Esplanade, we’ll just see how it all goes but the goal is Mimi’s in the Marigny at around 10ish to catch St. Anne and follow them into the Quarter down to Canal Street – see you there my friends.
Societé de Saint Anne
Founded: 1969
Usually starts at Bud Rips in Bywater Piety and Burgundy at 10:00a.m.
The Society of Saint Anne is a New Orleans Mardi Gras marching krewe that parades each Mardi Gras Day. The Society was founded in 1969. Known for the very elaborate and beautiful costumes of its members, the core group gathers in the Bywater neighborhood of New Orleans each Mardi Gras morning, with the Storyville Stompers brass band providing the music. As they pass through the Faubourg Marigny and French Quarter, additional costumed marchers join the parade at various coffee-shops and bars along the route. The marches continue to Canal Street to watch the Rex Parade, then return into the French Quarter. Usually starts at Bud Rips in Bywater Piety and Burgundy at 10:00a.m.
