Snow in Zagreb
T is taking T2 to Croatia next week to see the snow in Zagreb as well as visiting with family and friends. Me, I’m staying here in what I consider cold enough – 50 degree New Orleans weather. At first, when the suggestion came up to have yet another trip to Europe, I instantly felt separation anxiety as Tin is in an explosive development phase where things are happening so quickly – like yesterday when he said a complete sentence, “I can help.” Or the other day when he sang, “Twinkle Twinkle” and knew the song. Nine days of away and who knows what he is going to come back doing – somersaults for all I can imagine.
But a friend of mine, a mother of two, said, “Take a deep breath and enjoy this time alone.” But, but, but, I replied, like my friend’s husband who works all day and already feels as if he doesn’t see his toddler daughter so he doesn’t want to go out and miss one evening. I’m one of those types.
Now, though, I have been getting into the groove – thinking of time alone – books to read, movies to see – and I have scheduled this time to be about me – a massage, a champagne tasting with one friend, a wine tasting with another friend, another friend coming to visit, a dinner with another friend – and only three chores (sealing the marble countertops, conditioning the leather sofa, and organizing my office).
Now I’m wondering if T might be able to take the dogs and cats with her as well.
