Setting intentions instead of resolutions
I was speaking to someone today who told me that they are going to try to listen more to their heart in the New Year. Good idea. I’m trying for nonattachment – a high goal – but a worthy one. Everybody is becoming uber aware of the heightened stress that the daily news is giving all of us – students protesting in London over tuition raises, uncertainty over jobs spilling into every workplace, home equity depreciating by the moment, fear, fear, fear – all of this is to say if we align our thinking along the lines of fear and anxiety, we tap into others who are feeling the same anxiousness and collectively and the stress level rises to a roaring din that crowds out gratefulness, happiness, lovingness.
My New Year’s intentions are to have nonattachment be my guiding light and from there focus on joining the minds of those who wish to spread peace, joy and love in the world.
