Unattachment
Our neighbor who is a musician – WAIT, ARE ALL MY NEIGHBORS MUSICIANS? – almost – anyway, one of our neighbors who is a musician put together a holiday CD for us with Spirit as the theme and one of the songs on it is Van Morrison singing Enlightenment. I love this song because it speaks to nonattachment, my theme of the new year. Because as I practice my meditation on Wednesday nights its all about not being attached to outcomes and how freeing that is because our life is wasted in the getting and spending, and not enough in the being. So today when my horoscope spoke about patience – a concept we are trying dutifully to teach Tin – it resonated. Again I’m reminded of the zen saying that has followed me throughout my life – you are exactly where you are supposed to be no matter how things seem to appear.

There is an interesting phenomenon going on in your life right now: The closer you come to fully understanding things, the slower the pace of your life becomes. This may make it difficult for you to build on any new ideas, and it could be a challenge to build up any momentum, but try not to get too frustrated. The smartest way to deal with this trend is to have patience. When things are meant to come together, they will. The timing will be right soon.
