Heidi lands in a bowl of milk

Sometimes the world spins in one direction and you feel like you are shedding what and who you love – suddenly parents, pets, friends are dying and the world seems like a bleak place to be. Then the world spins the other way and you are accreting, suddenly a son, another dog, other things are coming to light up your life and you feel as if you and your heart are just growing to accommodate this larger universe.

Today Heidi came to live with us and her mother left in tears. While Heidi’s mom has a long road ahead of her with the direction her world is spinning, her collateral damage came to us as a new member of our family. Again, Heidi walked in and went straight to Tin and licked him. And so begins Heidi’s life at the LaLa.

I’d like to think that we are all connected somehow. That Tin came here because we are all part of the same tribe and that Heidi came here too – so no one is leaving anyone, but rather everyone is where they need to be right now. Sort of like my favorite zen dropping:

No matter how things seem to appear, you are exactly where you are supposed to be.
