The locura and the risk go hand in hand here
Conversation yesterday about how in post-Katrina times, New Orleanians seem engaged in higher than usual risky behavior – STDs are on the rise, alcoholism is at an all time high, love is waxing or waning behind every closed door, long-awaited pools are being dug in back yards, interiors are being spruced up to a new level of opulence and nuttiness is on the rise and manifesting itself into bizarre behavior.
So with all this heightened awareness, it seems we have peeled another layer off of ourselves, making us rawer and more receptive to the atmospheric valium that is our ether.
Historians will look back on us kindly when it’s all said and done, I reckon, because after all, we are only human – feet of clay or at least delta mud.
