A bonus day!
It is so unbelievably gorgeous here in New Orleans today – just perfect weather and a perfect day. I woke to find out that my flight to the east coast had been cancelled because of all the weather they’re having and then I went into scramble mode to find another flight out – which isn’t until tomorrow – so I got to enjoy this beautiful day at home with my family.
We started with a bottle on the porch and then Loca and Tin and I walked to City Park which was packed with everyone and their mother enjoying themselves. We played at the playground and visited the ducks and then came back for a bottle on the porch again – yee ha. Tin is cutting a tooth so he’s cranky but was able to still groove out on the porch and with the weather.
He napped this morning but decided that was all he was giving and so when we got a call that an African band was playing in the French Market, we took our cue and had T drop us there for an hour of hanging out. James Singleton was playing with the band and they are there the second Sunday of every month. While we were in front of the stage, an older African American woman came up and asked me if she could hold him and then she took him up to the stage and danced with him. He was a big hit because when I put him down he got his groove on like he is want to do when he hears music – a guy sitting with his family said he looks like an old man with his bowed legs and receding hair line. Ha!
And now to head outside and catch the dying light on the water. Oh blessed day! Home on the bayou.
