Through the looking glass

A hectic day of work, scheduling, preparing, Jake, Loca, Arlene, and finally at dusk, a walk with T and me and Loca through the twilight streets of Uptown – into Audubon Park – a change of scenery – the heady scent of Confederate Jasmine overtaking fences, Nightblooming Jasmine tall as trees, Gardenia bushes chock a block full of white fragrant flowers, and more – New Orleans – this is what it smells like. Walking hand in hand, an emotional day, an energy spent day, a day before, a day of, a day after, a day – this is what love is – a pull to make this one moment last and last before the next day, or the day after, or whenever. Struggling to steal moments for this and that – if your life is a painting, you want it to look exactly like this – EEL lighting, low and soulful, your love on your left, your dear friend on your right, food prepared and set before you, a glass of wine that goes down easily, places to go, a new day to greet, but tonight, just for one moment we walk through the looking glass and find joy.
