So we’re watching For the Love of Ivy and there is just one thing I have to say – OMG. Are you kidding me? Why did I not see this movie before?

    That and the book Queen of Palmyra were both recommended to me as the antidote to The Help (which I bave decided I will neither watch nor read). I am the pale male step-child of a family domestic, and I have too much affection and respect for Sylvia and all her colleagues to truck in cheap sentimentalization of what their lives were like.

    Well I didn’t have Sylvia, I had Annie (a water heater) but still I have no sentimental feelings for the past. I need to ready the Queen of Palmyra and I can assure you that I would never watch the Help – I didn’t like the whole premise to begin with.
