Can’t work anywhere else
We had our annual reporter’s conference, which is an opportunity for all of us to see in person people we spend the rest of the year only emailing and IMing or talking to on the phone. Seeing, touching, are so important for the virtual workers of the world. I always come away from these events feeling lucky to be part of this organization. This time was no different. As I stood on the dance floor watching the slideshow of photographs collected over the years – many of which I am in – I felt like it was our family album and these people were possibly the best alternative family I could ever have.
A couple of us were talking about how we came to the company and what we did before – G was talking about her bra and her vision for the brand and where she sees herself in the future – and one colleague responded, “I can’t work anywhere else.” That about sums it up. This job has always allowed me to create my work and has rewarded me for that effort – I won a special award that made me welp up because of its significance to the company and to the person it honors – I too feel as if it would be difficult to work anywhere else.
