Up in smoke

At 4 this morning I got a text from TL that there was a big fire on Gentilly and Ponce de Leon – first thing I wondered if it was the crack house – next I worried about Daphne (not sure where her house is) and then I worried about Pauly the cat who might be out there in the mayhem. Since worry is what I do best I lay there wondering if G had gotten home safe.

A couple of text messages later TL called and said it was an abandoned laundromat and it seemed contained under a deluge of fire fighting hose apparatuses that were doing the job.

Sigh – I got up and started preparing for my trip – worried about leaving the LaLa, Arlene, my friends, my city – and trying to take a deep breath.

It’s good to have gotten back to Rachel’s fiction writting, I had not been on the site since she was relocated to Texas after the storm. Hope things in NO are moving forward slowly.

    Sincerely,

    Mark

Rachel – it was great to finally have met you last year in NO! Thanks for breaking away so quickly from your schedule to have a drink with me. I am not in NO very offen, but would like to see you when I am there next. How have you been? Writting much? Any travel plans?
    TC, Mark

Writing in my blog all the time, no fiction, just facts. Been traveling a lot for work – these are tough times in case you have not noticed. Otherwise things are good – and you?

Tough is a good word, describing the times and many of the people. Finally became part of the unemployed sector in September, worked out a good severence and have started the search for something new. Hope you are well.

Sorry to hear that Mark – this has been a tough year all the way around. My mother is still in critical condition (past four months), industry still shaky – both financial and media, and trying to adopt a child is like trying to thread a needle with a rope. You’re healthy (I hope), and think we should both change our career to health care – seems like that is where the jobs are.
