Moving up to the east side
I figured the other day it was time to step up and be the adult I’ve become instead of still trying to hang onto notions of me as a bohemian short story writer living in a one room French Quarter apartment – a romantic notion that I secretly harbor even to this day. So I looked around the other night and being as present as I could be here is what I observed: Tatjana was looking good wearing this blue cowboy shirt she had gotten from Vanessa’s (Gal Holiday) goodbye sale and she was introducing our friend Marc Pagani, also wearing a cool cowboy shirt, to a neighbor and said, “Marc is our photographer” – that wasn’t what she meant to say, but I really liked the ring of it. Next, I looked in the corner where the money tree usually is but instead saw James Singleton, Steve Masakowski, and Hector Gallardo playing their Cuban cha cha and heard the warm music filling the insides of the LaLa to the brim. Outside it was brrrr cold but you could see the waves on the bayou glistening in the honeyed light from the houses across the water. My 21-month-old son was grooving both to the music and to the other little ones running around the house while stuffing his face with delicious challah. Around me were old friends, neighbors, visitors and new friends enjoying themselves and feeling special and alive.
I said to myself: wake up honey, this is your life, and it ain’t damn bad, if I must say so myself. Now here’s my horoscope today:

Taurus (4/20-5/20)
There’s been a strong self-confidence brewing deep inside of you, and it’s about to start showing itself. Put yourself in as many challenging situations as possible and you will see yourself shine brighter than ever before. This is merely the tip of the iceberg for you as you enter into a bigger, more powerful phase than you’ve ever known. Romantically, this is an opportunity to try a new technique or idea to move things to the next level.
