Last night, our friend came over to light the menorah as he was headed back to Spain today, and then my neighbor and his two friends stopped by on the way home from the Quarter so we all lit the menorahs. Right before another friend had dropped off four perfectly made soufganiyots that were divine! After we lit the candles one of the guys told me that this was the first year he wasn’t home lighting the menorah – that his mother had died and he lit her menorah every year and remembered her – and I said well, you were actually lighting my parents’ menorah and he gave me a big hug. Even big boys miss their mommy.

Our little elf is outgrowing his hand me down Argentina outfit from Ruby but he still looks adorable in it.
