Living up to your full potential of woman
There is a bumpersticker I remember that says if women ran the world they’d hold a bake sale to feed the young rather than send their sons off to war. Something like that. The point is that women are inclined to find solutions to the basic problems of life – like how to feed the young. The question is then why is it that when women become leaders they do not focus on these essentials, such as feeding our young?
I was listening to the lecture series in the car with Marianne Williamson – and while I find her holy spirit talk a little too too for me – she said as an example that female hyenas circle their young to keep the adult males from eating the cubs or their food. If female hyenas can band together to feed and protect their young, then what are all women doing about starving children around the world?
It’s a powerful question. Why is it that every woman on this planet who has the wherewithal to help others is not doing at least one thing to make sure that no child goes hungry. That while men may create war, women might create peace.
It’s a question that resonates with me on many levels. I’m always thinking about a way to help poor kids get a decent breakfast before school and yet what am I doing about this thought?
