I left my heart in New Orleans

We were coming home last night, tired and satisfied from an evening out that included some interesting facts about Almodovar I hadn’t known before, hearing music and watching dancing (for a change, watching was spectacular), and hanging out with a friend when we pulled up to the LaLa and found something left on the welcome mat – the outline of a heart drawn with pebbles and a red flower in the center.

The front porch is something special in New Orleans – it’s a place to meet and greet. But our front porch is uber special because there seems like there is no end to the surprising little gifts we find there – Hebe jackolanterns, bottles of wine, an oyster necklace, a bag of Italian parade goodies that included black roses and mini green and red umbrellas, cookies, and a heart made from pebbles.

I found out the culprit was two little friends who live down the way who were just saying hello.

the last aldovar movie we saw was Bad Education. We’re great fans of his too.

Funny – we just saw that the other night in Santa Fe, when it was too snowy to go outside. Tatjana is a professor of Spanish Cinema and Literature at Tulane. Although I’ve always been a fan myself, I haven’t gone through his repertoire. Our friend, a visiting professor from CUNY was showing clips of his first films Pepi, Luci, Bom and Other Girls on the Heap (1980) and Labyrinth of Passions (1982), which were so raw compared to his later films.
