The meaning of life

I told T the other day that the meaning of life is to live it, not to be comfortable. I had read about how relationships are about learning and growing, and that your partner does not come into your life to make you comfortable or content – they come into your life to challenge you and help you grow.

Throughout the night, I was staring into the eyes of a little girl whose two years on this earth have been challenging and now might be over and I tried to glean any meaning in her struggle and all I could come up with is that she brought love with her, and let loose a cascade of love in people that none of them knew existed.

The meaning of life is to live it.

The meaning of life is to live it! But living it for some people means earthly goods and the pursuit of that. Screaming at their children to shut up and f off, not taking time to sit down and spend some time really talking to their kids. At the moment I’m sitting in a foreign country all on my own, trying to build a better future for my family. For me, experiencing the companionship of a child or an animal, is the ultimate degree of love. Both children and animals love without any preconceived ideas of who you are supposed to me – you don’t have to pretend with them! That is living the ultimate life for me!

I couldn’t agree more – but pity those who look for it in material possessions – some people just think that they will get happiness that way.
